The string orchestra of the Republican Guard was created the 23rd of June 1947 at the request of President Vincent Auriol, himself an amateur violinist. From the beginning it was intended mainly for the service of the Elysée and the protocol of the State. The orchestra regularly performs in France festivals as well as abroad.
