Liszt ,full of generosity and curious of the works of his contemporaries transcribes for piano, besides Beethoven’s symphonies, Fantasy Symphony by Berlioz, and Paganini themes. He also transcribes Isolde’s death, Parsifal by Wagner. Regarding the third act prelude, Debussy wrote : « Nothing reaches serene beauty like Wagner’s music ». According to Richard Pohl, the musicologist, Wagner owes Tristan’s harmonic substance to Liszt. Jacques Caulin prolongs here his works.
